Ad Game

Outcomes

  • Boost Creative Thinking: Generating imaginative pitches under time constraints mimics real-world innovation and problem-solving.
  • Foster Teamwork & Inclusion: Small groups collaborate to develop a single, cohesive pitch—encouraging healthy team dynamics.
  • Encourage Agility: Time-boxing forces rapid consensus, reinforcing agile methods that are beneficial in client engagements and internal projects alike.

When to Use

  • Pre-Brainstorm Session: Get creative juices flowing and remind everyone that no idea is too outrageous.
  • Team-Building Exercise: Strengthen collaboration through fun, shared development of ideas.

Use AD GAME to warm up participants for brainstorming sessions, spark friendly competition, and cultivate an energetic, idea-centric environment within PwC teams.

Instructions

1. Get Suggestions

  • The facilitator requests a product or startup idea plus a quick description (e.g., “Wonderpaste: cleans teeth and lets you bite through anything”).

2. Develop the Pitch

  • In small groups (3–5 people), on the spot, decide on:
    - Product Name
    - What it Does (key features)
    - Slogan
    - Celebrity Spokesperson
    - TV Ad or Jingle
  • Time‑bound the activity if desired, to encourage decisive collaboration.

3. Present to Investors

  • Each group delivers their improvised pitch to the “investors” (the rest of the room).
  • Consider fun variations like voting on which pitch to “fund.”

Format & Group Size

  • Small Groups (3–5): Ideal for nimble teamwork à la Mad Men–style creative teams.

  • Flexible Delivery: After the pitch, groups can field quick Q&A from “investors” or receive feedback.

Time Frame

  • Short & Sweet (5–10 Minutes): Quick brainstorming plus 1–2 minutes per group to pitch.
  • Extended (15–20+ Minutes): Allow more time for in-depth development, creative props, or multiple pitch rounds.

Debrief

  • How did the time constraints and collaborative process impact your ability to quickly generate creative ideas? How can these skills be applied to real-world business challenges at PwC?

  • Reflecting on the group dynamic during the pitch creation, how did the diversity of perspectives enhance your final idea? How can fostering inclusivity and collaboration in idea development improve teamwork and innovation at PwC?
